Respite Care Services
Hours and frequency of services vary based on the needs of the individuals served.
Respite is an individually planned service to care for an individual with a disability to give some relief to parents or primary caregivers. Trained Direct Support Professionals provide respite care to help maintain regular activities while giving daily caregivers time to rest and care for personal or other family needs.
Scheduled by the hour, respite services are generally provided in the recipient’s home. However, a Direct Support Professional may also provide respite at alternative locations with the approval of the family and the Respite Coordinator.
Respite Services are coordinated through our Danville, Indiana office, but we welcome referrals from Boone, Hendricks, Johnson, Marion, Hamilton, Hancock, Morgan, Putnam, Vanderburgh, and other counties in Indiana.
Payment for respite services is available through Medicaid Waivers. Persons approved for Traumatic Brain Injury Waivers, Community Integration and Habilitation (CIH) and Family Support Waivers (FSW) may ask that respite be added to the waiver budget. Case managers will approve monthly allowances of hours and funds after meeting with the family, the recipient and Sycamore’s Respite Coordinator.
