Sycamore Services would like to congratulate this year’s Project Search class on the successful completion of their program! Eleven young adults celebrated their Project Search graduation with a ceremony on April 25 at the Indiana Statehouse.

Sycamore Services has partnered with Project Search in a unique school-to-work transition program that takes place entirely in the workplace. During thprogram periodyoung adults with special needs are selected to participate in internships sponsored by departments of the Indiana Government Center.

During their Project Search year, interns are immersed in the workplace for a combination of classroom instruction, career exploration, and on-the-job training and support. The goal for each intern is to obtain a permanent job. While working at the Indiana Government Center, Project Search interns learned how to ride Indy Go, maneuver the tunnels through the Indiana State Library and Government Center, and other important socialization and work-related skills.

In a surprise move this year, one of the Project Search students received a job offer during graduation. The student, Ivan, has worked with Indiana Department of Administration on a special events set-up team at the Indiana State House. Ivan was thrilled to accept the employment offer and looks forward to his future as an employee of the State of Indiana!
