Pre-Employment Transition Services

Pre-Ets

Sycamore Services partners with high schools, community employers, and various agencies to create high-quality, long-term systems for school-to-work transition services. Our goal is to prepare students with disabilities for a successful entry into the adult world.

Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS)
Our collaborative Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) program is dedicated to providing students with disabilities with essential skills and opportunities for a meaningful future.

Mission
The mission of Pre-ETS is to offer positive strategies for students with disabilities by supporting their decision-making in areas like community living, further education, and employment. We serve students aged 14-22 with documented disabilities, offering services such as:

  • Job Exploration and Counseling

  • Work-Based Learning Experiences

  • Instruction in Self-Advocacy

  • Assistance with Post-Secondary Education Counseling and Enrollment

Opportunities for High School Students
Is your child facing challenges at school? Are there barriers to their success? Sycamore Services offers assistance to help students make informed choices about life after high school.

Our Career Coaches collaborate with school staff and families to identify students who could benefit from Pre-ETS services. Students work regularly with their Career Coach to explore career options and identify educational and training opportunities post-graduation. Coaches provide support both in school settings and through connections with community partners, offering both individual and group instruction.

Pre-ETS Services for High School Students May Include:

  • Career Assessments: Identifying strengths and interests to explore potential career pathways.

  • Volunteering Opportunities: Gaining experience to enhance resumes.

  • College Tours: Visiting local colleges to explore majors and support services.

  • Summer Programs: Engaging in fun activities and making new friends.

Opportunities for Post-Secondary Students
Pre-ETS services are available to students with disabilities up to age 23, including those in cosmetology programs, apprenticeship programs, community colleges, and traditional 4-year colleges. Even after high school graduation, students can benefit from additional support for their post-secondary pursuits.

Pre-ETS Services for Post-Secondary Students May Include:

  • Soft Skills Training: Improving communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Industry Connections: Receiving advice on resumes and interviewing from industry leaders.

  • Self-Advocacy: Understanding individual rights and learning self-advocacy.

  • Internship Opportunities: Exploring paid and unpaid internships or work experiences.
