Celebrating National Mentoring Month: Mentorship at the Heart of Sycamore Services

This National Mentoring Month, we honor the relationships between mentors and mentees that reflect our deep commitment to serving others with integrity and compassion.

For Christa Lake, mentoring aspiring Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) is one of the most rewarding aspects of her career. Reflecting on her role, Christa shared:

"As a Behavior Analyst, mentoring and supervising individuals working towards becoming a BCBA is one of my favorite things I get to do in my career. I strive to work closely with the individuals I supervise to provide guidance and support across a variety of skill areas while focusing on client outcomes and quality of service delivery."

Christa’s mentorship goes beyond teaching the basics of the field; she instills a sense of purpose and a focus on service.

"I encourage my supervisees to take a hands-on approach to learning, all while helping them understand the 'why' and 'how' behind behavior analysis, data-driven decision-making, and overall professional growth. It’s important to me that they feel prepared to serve others with compassion and effectiveness."

Samantha Stone, one of Christa’s supervisees, shared how impactful Christa’s mentorship has been on her journey to becoming a BCBA:

"From day one, after signing my supervision contract, Christa began to provide opportunities for growth and learning in the field of ABA. She immediately worked closely with me, providing feedback, teaching moments, and additional assignments to help me deepen my knowledge. Her dedication has been incredible."

Samantha highlighted Christa’s unwavering commitment to helping others succeed:

"Christa has never hesitated to explain the reasons behind decisions or help me understand the thought process involved in creating programs for our learners. She made herself available whenever I needed guidance and has gone above and beyond to support me throughout my journey. I can only hope to bring the same level of care to the individuals I serve."
