CHILDRENS’ SERVICES

In 2010 our focus was on helping families and children prepare for the future.  In the summer of 2010, Sycamore Services sponsored PATHS, a summer camp for children in grades K-6.  Children were placed in similar age groups and participated in all types of activities.  They visited local sites including the library and hosted interesting visitors over the 2-week period.  The program was open to all children as we provided staff for those with special needs.  At the end of 2010, Sycamore learned that the local school system would be hosting the camp in 2011.  We felt this experience provided us with a greater understanding of how to create positive experiences for children that can be utilized throughout all our Children's Programs.

 
FIRST STEPS - EARLY INTERVENTION: Professionally trained therapists provided education and exercises that assisted children from birth to age 3 in reaching their appropriate developmental age.  Early Intervention services includes physical therapy, developmental therapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language therapies.  Therapists attended formal and informal workshops throughout the year to maintain their therapeutic skills.

In 2010, numerous children were assisted through the following therapies:

328 children received Developmental Therapy                                                                                                                     262 children received Occupational Therapy                                                                                                                        174 children received Physical Therapy                                                                                                                               285 children participated in Speech & Language Therapies                                                                                                    470 Evaluations were completed by our ED Team.

Sycamore provided individualized therapies to a total of 639 children in 2010.  We will continue to serve children from birth to age 3 who are experiencing developmental delays as we help them make their first steps toward the future.
