Sycamore Services’ Community based services are provided to assist individuals in making connections based on their interests. Goals are set so each person can make progress at their own rate. Community activities may involve membership in a club, such as YMCA, or it may involve regular trips to the local library. Activities are based on consumer choice and the benefit to be derived from the experience. Consumers participate in educational, recreational and social activities to expand their personal experiences.
Sycamore’s Community Consultants provided 34,210 hours of support to 207 persons enrolled in Community-based activities between July 2011 and June 2012.
Activities may be presented to individuals or as a group. Consumers are encouraged to participate in activities that promote good health, fellowship and education. Community outings present opportunities for consumers to join others, develop new friendships and, potentially, build a fuller life without paid support.
