2014 Residential Services
Sycamore’s residential services expanded over the last year when Personal Assistance & Care and Wellness Coordination were added as services. These two services provided more focused attention on overcoming individual specific challenges. Wellness also promotes healthier lifestyles as well as monitors personal health issues.
Residential services are provided in supported homes, or in homes of parents/families. Supported sites have 24/7 staffing when residents are home. We try to develop plans that will include some type of productive day activities to promote greater social or community based interactions through the day. A comprehensive plan makes effective use of individual budgets while providing more experiences for each individual.
In 2014, Sycamore supported 87 individuals in residential settings.
Sycamore homes normally have 3 residents. Residents may share goals so staff can work with more than one person at a time on specific tasks. But the homes are never more than three individuals. Team Leads coordinate staffing for homes and assist in keeping shifts filled during vacations or illness.
Residents are encouraged to participate in other productive day programs to provide them with positive social and learning experiences. Sycamore Direct Service Personnel are trained in first aid and CPR so they are prepared for emergency situations. Training is repeated on an annual basis to assure that all are in compliance and are maintaining healthy, safe homes for our consumers.
